Friday Night Sew In

Good Evening All
Sorry I've been missing in action.  I finished the competition quilt, took pictures and sent off them off with the entry form.  About 4 hours after I put the package in the mail, I remembered I didn't complete the form  uggghhh.  I'm so disappointed.  I sent an email to the organizers.  I haven't heard anything yet.  This is the first time that I've entering a contest and was talking myself out of entering.  All those crazy negative thoughts.  My friends were very supportive and one said to do it for the experience.  I really liked that comment and it helped me finish the quilt.  I will do a post about it around the middle to end of November.  I can't wait to show it to you all.

Handmade by Heidi

I linked up with Friday Night Sew-In yesterday and this is what I was working on:

This is a quilt that I'm making for the Quilt University - Starting From Scratch class.  I'm working on the borders.  There is a checkerboard boarder and then another red outer boarder.  This quilt is taking me a very, very long time to finish.  I really need to start on a commission quilt and would like to make the Halloween Wall Hanging I showed the fabric earlier.  But I don't want to have to drag this quilt out again later.  Its not a hard quilt and I like the colors/fabric.  I'm not sure what's holding me back to finish it?  Do you have projects like this on your plate?  What helps to motivate the finish?

Have a great weekend!

Quilting University project cut

Good Morning

I'm registered for a class at Quilt University.  And I am finished cutting the pieces for the quilt.  It is also a quilt for a fellow quilter.  I hope she likes it.

What do you think of the colors?

Now on to sewing the flying geese and then the following week we work on the stars.  Oh yea, did I mention that I'm 2 weeks behind.  Better get my but in gear LOL.

Have a great day!

QU Fabric Selection

Good Morning All
I signed up for my first class at Quilt University called Starting from Scratch.  Today is Week 4 and I'm still on week one:  Selecting my fabrics.  LOL

I think I have to accept that I will always be late.  Its seems to be a trend lately.

Here is a picture of one of my fabrics.  I just love this black and white print.

What do you think?
Have you taken a class at Quilt University?  Which one and did you like it?

Have a great day!

Sad Day for Me

Good Evening, Hope everyone is warm and safe.

Today is a sad day for me.  It is the One Year Anniversary of my Mom's passing away.  She was 56 years young.  Today, I kept thinking of the call and the waiting and the disbelief.  I was able to keep busy for most of the day which made today easier.  My hubby took the day off to be with me, and I'm extremely grateful to him.

I'll be joining Sandy at Quilting for the Rest of Us in her Slow Quilting Mondays.  Not sure if will committ to Monday's but I will be working on a slow quilt.  The quilt will be made in honor of my Mom.  She was very proud to be Irish and she loved the color Blue.  We ended up taking her antique Waterfall Bedroom set for our spare room.  I've been thinking a lot about Mom and my current passion.  What better way to honor her that make a Double Irish Chain in Blue's for the spare room.  And when I'm finished, if I want to keep it special to myself, no one would really know.

Yesterday I played on EQ7 and came up with this quilt:

I have an idea for the borders and think that it will be really nice for the quilt.  I can't figure out how to put the borders on EQ7.  I'm registered for the EQ class on Quilt University that starts tomorrow.  I'm really hoping to be able to create a lot more soon!

Now I get to play Touchy Feely with fabrics for the quilt.

Have a great night!
