Quilting University project cut

Good Morning

I'm registered for a class at Quilt University.  And I am finished cutting the pieces for the quilt.  It is also a quilt for a fellow quilter.  I hope she likes it.

What do you think of the colors?

Now on to sewing the flying geese and then the following week we work on the stars.  Oh yea, did I mention that I'm 2 weeks behind.  Better get my but in gear LOL.

Have a great day!

I'm so Happy, I'm so Happy

I'm singing the title above!  I finally finished my little girl's first quilt.  I purchased the material when she was about 4 months old.  She will be 3 in a little over a month.  It wasn't a hard quilt, just kept putting it aside and would work on other things.  And then I picked flannelette for the binding because of slim pickings.  I did not like working with the it, especially for hand sewing the binding on.  I will never purchase it again.  It took me forever to sew the binding on.  I couldn't catch the fabric properly with my needle.  But I am DONE!

This is also one of the projects I added for the 2012 Finish-A-Long.  Will have to check my list to see what else I should be working on.

Have a great evening!

What is a UFO?

At our last guild meeting, the president read out the following:

What is a UFO?

It starts out as a WHIMM (work hidden in my mind).
After a FART (fabric acquisition road trip),
and some SEX (stash enhancing experience),
it becomes a PIG (project in a grocery sack).
The PIG becomes a HSY, pronounced hissy, (haven't started yet),
once you have a HSY and begin to work on it, it becomes a WIP (work in progress).
The WIP becomes a UFO as soon as some other project grabs your attention more than the project that was a WIP!

I got a kick out of it.

Have a great day!

Mug Rugs finished with help

Good Morning All

For the Finish-A-Long, I listed three mug rugs that needed to have the binding finished.  All three are finished but I can only submit one.  I have a bag that I take with me that holds some hand sewing.  I don't get a lot of opportunities to work on it but at the last guild meeting I pulled it out.  There are a group of 8 of us that are in a smaller bee.  One of the gals usually has hand work.  So that evening, She and I were sewing away when one of the others says "Where's my hand work"  My eyes lit up and jokingly said "I have it for you"  I even had extra needles and thimbles.  Well she took me up on the offer and another friend took another one.  They ended up finishing both that evening.  One of my friends said she had to finish it because she's left-handed and I wouldn't be able to complete it easily.  Aren't they nice.

Here is a picture of the 3 finished.

Have a great day!

FWPC - Farmer's Wife Pony Club

Good morning All

My Local Quilting Shop is starting a Quilt-a-Long on the Farmer's Wife Pony Club.  I made a sample for the store.  It didn't come out to the correct size.  I'm hoping that it will be okay.

I have just purchased the Farmer's Wife book.  I'm quite excited to start it.  I'm a member of the Facebook group and Yahoo Group for the FW.  Now to upload it and pick the first block.

Have a great day!

December Block Lottery Finished

Good Morning All

I was able to finally finished the December Block Lottery.  At my local guild, members have the opportunity to participate in a Block Lottery.  Everyone gets the same pattern and piece of fabric.  Participants make the block and bring it back to the next meeting.  Everyone who finishes the block puts their name in for the draw.  And the lucky winner gets all the blocks to make their own quilt.  There are anywhere from 20 - 30 blocks finished on a monthly basis.
I like to participate even knowing that I won't win.  It very rare for me to win things.  But its still fun to make the blocks.

I put this in the Finish-A-Long to motivate me to have it finished for the Guild meeting next week.  But since it wasn't started yet, it doesn't really count.  But again, its all in the fun of participating!

Have a great day!

QU Fabric Selection

Good Morning All
I signed up for my first class at Quilt University called Starting from Scratch.  Today is Week 4 and I'm still on week one:  Selecting my fabrics.  LOL

I think I have to accept that I will always be late.  Its seems to be a trend lately.

Here is a picture of one of my fabrics.  I just love this black and white print.

What do you think?
Have you taken a class at Quilt University?  Which one and did you like it?

Have a great day!

What my life looks like!

Good Morning All

I've been crazy busy trying to learn QuickBooks and enter my Mom's estate financials.  Its been quite the challenge.  I don't like feeling like a failure and the first 2 days, that's what I was feeling.  Yesterday wasn't too bad, its starting to look up.  But I thought I would show you what my area looks like.  There's no surface showing or if there is, its very little.

Here are only half of the boxes for my Mom's estate

Not sure if you can tell
I have my laptop set up beside my desktop
and I'm using both at same time

Here are all my crazy piles that need to be entered

and last but not least
my love
My Electric Heater
i'm always cold and even more so when stressed
He's My Friend!

Have a great Day!

Follower Give-Away

Good day all
We are having beautiful weather here.  What's the weather like for you?  I would rather have the snow and cold now, not when spring is supposed to start.  Here's to good weather for the rest of the year.
I can't believe its already February!  Where does the time go.
I was hoping to be more consistent in posting for 2012.  Which didn't quite work out the way I was hoping.  LOL.  That's life right!
I didn't have any followers at the beginning of January, through out January I had 2 followers and now at the end of January I have on lonely follower.  :)  So my friend, you will receive my first give-away!  Please send me your address and I will send you a little something for sticking with me.

At the end of February, I may do another give-away.  If my followers double, I'll draw for another gift in the mail.  LOL  I'm sure that we can do it.  And there might be even a surprise if we surpass that number.

Have a great day.
